And they don’t call Harli THE TOTAL PACAKGE for nothing! Not only does she have the look, she writes her own lyrics, AND she produces hot tracks!
Just like the renaissance era, Harlem has once again produced an extraordinary talent that will stimulate your mind and heightens your senses.
Harli P&L, was born and raised in Harlem, NY. Coming from a family of eight, befriended and raised by a block of thugs, hustlers, stick-up kids and murderers, her style definitely stems from Hip Hop with a touch of something brand new and oh so rhythmic. Ask Harli to describe herself and she’s quick to tell you "I'm stubborn, hardheaded, aggressive, manipulative, and a whole slew of other fabulous traits I'm afraid we'll have to leave out for now. I'll just say this, I am very independent and I try to work hard for my own. I don't want anyone handing me anything for free. I feel much better when I work for things it's brings me the feeling of, "Ahhhh sh*t, you better watch out!”
Dubbed the crucifix between hip hop and rock, Harli’s single, NaStyleJah, recaps the 80’s street way of life in three minutes flat. When asked about her single she laughingly replies, “That’s my hood. Everything I talked about happened on my block and them some. I live between Broadway and Caligula. It’s a veritable cesspool but I wouldn’t change it or my upbringing for the world. You know the saying, what doesn’t break you makes you stronger? Well let’s just say that I’m top contender at this time.”
Dropping a quick sixteen over a hacienda style track for her friend and producer, Mark “Boogie” Brown, Harli's snippet was embraced and sung on the streets of Crown Heights Brooklyn. Buckshot Shorty, who was at the time finishing up his BDI Thug album, heard the track and wanted to expand the sixteen into a full song. As a favor to her producer, Harli P&L agreed to extend the song and it appeared as "My Bitches and My Niggaz" on Buckshot Shorty's album entitled BDI Thug in 2000. Harli was just getting her feet wet.
Harli got her name from her obsession with bikes. She says, "From the first time I was on a V-Twin, I knew it was love. To me, if it's not HD, it's not a bike. The P&L stems from not only Harli’s obsession with positive cashflow, but also from her way her life. “If I don’t profit from a relationship, be it tangible like cash or good loving, intangible like love, laughter, or mind stimulation, then I’m losing them. I refuse to let someone drain my mind, body or soul with pessimism, or lack of desire to dare to be. That makes them a loss.”
Harli's music definitely falls under the hip-hop/rap umbrella but as she expands mentally & personally, she plans to branch out into more alternative styles and venues. "I like all kinds of shit. You know how every artist has some saying or something, well mines would probably be "what's next" and my mother's would probably be, "what now?" When asked what influenced her to get into the game she had this to say, "Truth to be told, I started writing because some of the music, which was out around then (94’-96'), was trash to me. I was constantly criticizing people and my friends were sick of it. So they'd ask, "Well? Can you do better?" and I wrote this song titled, "The Best Pussy" as a joke, and to show that I could.
Harli confessed what she feels sets her aside from other artist " I’m a certifiable nut and I’m never afraid to do whatever I want and/or say what I want! Once people hear my music they will either love me, or they'll hate me. I am who I am. I am not pretending nor trying to fit a mold. I just grow as a person and vent or share for a lack of a better word, what I feel inside. The real question is are you feeling me?”
